The Reigning Champion

2025 Ontario's Ultimate Wine

In 2025, Leaning Post Wines’ 2022 Senchuk Vineyard Chardonnay outlasted the field to become the inaugural Ontario’s Ultimate Wine.

Tasted fully blind through a single-elimination bracket, the Chardonnay impressed round after round with its balance, depth and staying power, ultimately defeating Malivoire’s Bisous Brut NV in the final.

Nadia and Ilya Senchuk took home the first-ever championship belt—and now, in 2026, every winery in Ontario has a chance to take it from them.

The Competition

All wines entered in the inaugural Ontario’s Ultimate Wine competition were tasted fully blind, with no knowledge of producer, variety or price. Each wine was drawn into a single-elimination bracket and tasted head-to-head, with the winner of each matchup advancing until only four remained.
